Mountain View Lodge

We stayed at the Mountain View Lodge during our West Texas road trip, and it was a total hidden gem! The location is absolutely breathtaking, with stunning views of the Fort Davis mountains right outside your door. It’s the perfect spot if you’re looking to unplug and soak in some peace and quiet. The rooms are incredibly cozy, spotless, and full of authentic Texas charm. The service was truly top-notch; the staff is so welcoming and more than happy to give local recommendations (definitely check out the McDonald Observatory nearby!). There is such a magical atmosphere at night, especially with the stargazing opportunities. If you're looking for a soulful place that offers great value for money, this is it. Highly recommended!

We had a great three days there. It has a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Sitting on the porch and stargazing long into the evening every night, then getting up and seeing the sun rise the following mornings is an amazing experience. It is so quiet there. The owners and staff are very caring and responsive, yet unobtrusive. When we checked out, we left a couple of items behind, and we were contacted very quickly to let us know. Oh, our dog loved our cabin and time there, too. We will definitely return.

Spent a couple of days in one of our favorite areas on the planet and stayed at mountain view for the first time. Perfect base location for the area whether you are going to big bend, balmorrhea or just any of the very many sights and sensory delights the region has to offer. My family and I loved the gazebo area at night and we took full advantage of the cafe for breakfast to get us started for the day. We definitely will come back!

We stayed two nights in order to go to the star party at the McDonald Observatory. The facility was clean and the community style pavilion and use of grills was nice. Jenny was so helpful getting our family cabins situated next to one another.

These cabins were so cute and peaceful! We arrived pretty late at night and everything was ready for us. The room was clean and everything was nice and tidy. The area is very quiet and perfect for stargazing at night. I REALLY enjoyed watching the sunrise from the cabin windows, it was amazing. 100% will be returning!

Highly recommend Mountain View Lodge, Fort Davis. We booked last minute. Jenny was very responsive to our inquiry on short notice. Cabins are clean, cute, comfortable and cozy. Perfect place to watch the sunrise. We look forward to a future stay.

Room was very clean and furnished with everything you need. The kitchenette was sufficient for my needs, I appreciated the dishes and utensils. I brought my own cooked food which I warmed up in the microwave, and a rice cooker to make oatmeal and rice. The room stayed warm and I didn't need to use the heater in the winter. Location is convenient to the Davis Mountains and for a day trip south to Big Bend. The sky is dark and full of stars, I saw the milky way with my naked eye. The Cafe makes a mean burger! This place is precious and I would stay here again.
